Federal Courts of the Eastern District of Virginia are able to use video or telephone conferencing for certain criminal proceedings. Citing the Cares Act, the Court’s order authorizes the use of remote video conferencing under limited circumstances during the pandemic emergency.
With the consent of the Defendant, the Court may use video or teleconferencing upon finding specific reasons that further delay of the proceeding will cause a serious harm to the interests of justice.
The authorization lasts for 90 days.
